Science World vs. Art World
The world as it is:
The world is a spherical planet, tiny compared to many celestial objects, but very large to those who observe it every day. It has two magnetic poles, one in the extreme north of the planet, and one in the extreme south. The planet is seventy-percent water, with several large oceans and seas separating different land masses, and has a wide variety of natural climates and landforms. Different climates include warm, tropical environments, cold arctic environments, and variable temperate environments. Landforms and vegetation zones include low, relatively flat basins, mountainous areas, dry deserts, semi-arid grasslands, jungles and boreal forests, to name a few of the more prominent natural terrains and vegetation ones. Apart from the atmosphere and the presence of liquid water on Earth, the major thing that sets this planet apart from other known celestial bodies is the presence of life on the planet. One life form, Homo sapiens sapiens, has evolved with a relatively large brain, and has a complex form of expressive communication, which includes the ability to convey abstract ideas, as well as to make and use complex tools.
